Boris Liebing (Schalke 04) will present with EFDN to highlight benefits of Walking Football
Boris Liebing from FC Schalke 04 will be presenting with EFDN on the unique competition, ‘Walking Football League’ and how the adaptation of football has exponentially grown, eliminating barriers, providing greater accessibility to the sport, at the 14th EFDN #Morethanfootbal Conference in Breda.
Boris Liebing is the founder of the Walking Football League. Since 2016, he has been organising sports events and projects like “Football Fans in Training” and “Baskidball” at FC Schalke 04. His main focus is currently on Walking Football. The Walking Football team was established in 2017. Before moving to the main body, Boris worked from 2004 to 2016 as the Manager of the FC Schalke 04 basketball team.
FC Schalke 04 is one of the driving forces of the Walking Football League. The goal of the unique competition is to spread the passion for Walking Football beyond borders. The club hosted the first matchday of the new Walking Football League in Gelsenkirchen (Germany) and are organising another big tournament in May. The FC Schalke 04 Walking Football team recently went to England to meet and compete with other EFDN members. The Walking footballers are coached by former German national player Martin Max and are in close contact with the FC Schalke 04 Legends.
The presentation will delve into the history and development of Walking Football at EFDN and Schalke. Discussing the benefits of establishing a Walking Football Team with recommendations regarding the organisation of Walking Football activities as well as more information on the Walking Football League and future applications/ projects.
