Elisabeth Anderton – Speaker at the 20th EFDN Conference
Elisabeth Anderton, Sustainability Manager of IFK Göteborg, is a confirmed speaker at our 20th EFDN ‘Making Football Matter’ Conference in Athens from the 13th until the 15th of November 2023.
Elisabeth has a background in the show and sports industry and as an entrepreneur and health therapist, she started working with social work over 20 years ago. Elisabeth mainly worked with people with addiction problems and in homelessness. Today, she works as Sustainability Manager at IFK Gothenburg, where she has a leading position to drive sustainable development in the club from a social, economic and ecological perspective. This includes work at both individual and organizational level.
During her presentation, Elisabeth will talk about the norms and structures within elite football that inhibit our ability to achieve the global goals. We often talk about inclusion, diversity, gender equality, health and wellbeing and there are many policy documents that address this, but how can we live it in reality and make it lead to success? During this breakout session you will challenge our stereotypes and structures.
”When we decided to build Cruyff Courts in three of Gothenburg’s socially excluded areas. Representatives from business, the public sector and civil society created a working group that worked with the entire process from planning, construction, educating so-called local heroes and coaches to run activities that today set hundreds of children and young people in motion and create employment. Our first team players also play an important role as role models an youth who had their first introduction with football on our courts are now to be seen in our Academy.”
