Jan-Willem van der Roest – Speaker at the 21st EFDN Conference
Jan-Willem van der Roest, Academic consultant at Utrecht University, is a confirmed speaker at our 21st EFDN #MoreThanFootball Conference in Warsaw from the 22nd until the 24th of April 2024.
Jan-Willem van der Roest works as an academic advisor and assistant professor at the Department of Administrative and Organizational Science (USBO) at Utrecht University. Jan-Willem has specialized in the social value of elite sports in general and professional football in particular. Jan-Willem is active as a consultant at USBO Advice, where he applies scientific insights to the sports world. In recent years, Jan-Willem has carried out assignments for NOC*NSF, the Eredivisie and the Johan Cruyff Foundation.
At the EFDN Conference, in his presentation he will explore the growing importance of managing public values and addressing societal challenges within professional football, with a focus on the collaboration between the Eredivisie and Utrecht University. We will discuss how CSR managers can effectively oversee their projects, leveraging academic insights and tools. Additionally, he will introduce the launch of the “Leadership in Sport: societal values in professional football” program, aimed at further professionalizing this field and balancing various values within the football landscape.
