Barça Foundation uses sport as a tool to prevent violence
A main strategic programming line of Barça Foundation is aiming at the prevention of violence. Bullying among peers is a form of violence with a high prevalence in youth football. Maria Vallés will present the first study carried out and a new methodology to train football coaches to detect and prevent bullying and violence in their teams. Maria Vallés – Barça Foundation
Maria Vallés is the General Manager of Barça Foundation since May 2016. From 2012 to 2016, she was the Director of Corporate Development at the Vicente Ferrer Foundation and member of the Board of Directors of Doctors Without Borders Spain. With over 20 years’ experience in the non-profit sector, she has held national positions as head of Communication and Advocacy at ISGlobal (Pedro Alonso), Executive Manager of the AIDS and Society Foundation and Head of Fundraising and Communication in Doctors Without Borders. She has also coordinated various programmes in the field of humanitarian aid and Development in Africa (Kenya) and Latin America (Guatemala). She has a Master in Cooperation and Development and Diploma in Culture of Peace and Conflict Management, she originally trained in International Management and Foreign Trade in Paris. Maria is interested in management of non-profit organisations, strategic planning and development, communication and advocacy, fundraising, project management and organizational leadership.
