MatchWornShirt at 12th EFDN Conference
We’re happy to introduce Tijmen Zonderwijk of MatchWornShirt as a speaker at the 12th EFDN ‘#Morethanfootball’ Conference. Tijmen will present MatchWornShirt.com, an online fundraising platform for auctioning off the match worn shirts of the entire playing squad with the proceeds going to the clubs foundation, community trust or designated charities.
TIJMEN ZONDERWIJK – CO-FOUNDER
Tijmen and his brother Bob are the founders of the organisation having both previously worked as lawyers in Amsterdam, occasionally advising footballers and clubs. The idea of MatchWornShirt was born in late 2015 and after 2 years of developing the concept, the first auction launched in 2017. Having hosted 40 auctions to date in the Dutch Eredivisie, MatchWornShirt is now expanding to the major football leagues in Europe.
On the online platform, the auctions run for 4 days in real-time and start at the time of the kick-off of the specially selected matches. This enables fans to already start bidding on their favourite shirt during the match and provides the clubs with an additional revenue stream for their charitable arms, taking care of the whole whole auctioning process from start to finish and letting the clubs concentrate on the matches themselves.
