Matheus Cavalcanti – Speaker at the 22nd EFDN Conference
Matheus Cavalcanti, Environmental Sustainability Project Manager at EFDN, will be joining the lineup of distinguished speakers at the 22nd EFDN #MoreThanFootball Conference in Leuven, Belgium, on the 20th of November 2024.
Matheus has been with EFDN for 1.5 years, working on EU-funded projects focused on sustainability in football. His efforts include initiatives like NBS EduWORLD (education and green competencies), GREENFOOT (new financial schemes for green transitions), and Football for Climate Justice and Community Climate Captains (fan engagement on sustainability issues). With a background in business consultancy and product management, Matheus applies a strategic approach to managing impactful projects.
One of Matheus’s most meaningful moments in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was engaging partners across Europe to implement fan-focused sustainability activities, particularly through the Football for Climate Justice and Community Climate Captains projects.
Matheus’s presentation, titled “Community Climate Captains: A Fan-Centric Approach to Environmental Sustainability Issues,” will delve into the importance of listening to fans when tackling sustainability challenges. His breakout session will cover:
- Project Objectives: An overview of the Climate Captains methodology, which bridges social inclusion and environmental sustainability goals.
- Actions Taken: Insights into fan surveys and forums that have informed sustainability projects.
- How Clubs Can Join: Steps for clubs to participate and leverage fan input for sustainability initiatives.
Join Matheus to explore how fan engagement can drive meaningful change in environmental sustainability and inspire new approaches within your club.
